eBay launches new, 24-hour auction of NBA, WNBA cards around milestones of top stars
With the WNBA playoffs over and the 2024-25 NBA season underway, eBay is launching a new 24-hour auction of some of the hottest and most relevant basketball cards on the market.
The new “Gametime Gets” auction features basketball cards that drop when players reach milestones on the court, and are only available for 24 hours.
Each of the 50 trading cards—and the on-court milestones that make them available—are selected by former WNBA MVP and basketball analyst Candace Parker.
According to eBay, “basketball cards” were searched for more than 10,000 times per day on eBay globally during 2023. Global searches of ”WNBA” items increased nearly 110 percent on eBay during the 2024 season versus 2023, mirroring the popular interest in breakout stars like Caitlin Clark.
Starting on Oct. 22, fans can view the full “Gametime Gets” collection, along with the career benchmarks, league-wide records and single-game achievements at ebay.com/gametimegets. Bidding for each card starts at 24 cents, an homage to the game’s 24-second shot clock.
“Each season, we watch our favorite players hit their personal bests and set records, and as fans, we want a piece of that action and history,” Parker said in a release from eBay. “Between my years on the court and in the broadcast booth, I’ve witnessed some incredible history-making moments. Now, with ‘Gametime Gets,’ fans can score iconic, collection-defining cards that you can only get on eBay.”
All cards featured in the Gametime Gets curation are backed by eBay’s Authenticity Guarantee and stored in the PSA Vault.
Weekly drops will take place every Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET. Fans will have 24 hours to bid on the cards corresponding to on-the-court milestones achieved during the past week, with each card starting at 24 cents.
