Babe Ruth shares spotlight with Cobb, Young and Shoeless Joe in Mile High Card auction
Mile High Card Company’s Spring Auction features vintage classics of some of the greatest legends in baseball history, from Cy Young and Ty Cobb to Shoeless Joe Jackson and Grover Cleveland Alexander.
But, as usual, The Babe steals the spotlight.
Among more than 1,800 lots in the auction is a rare 1915 Boston Red Sox team photo featuring Ruth in his rookie season. The photo is just one of two examples of the Type 1 image authenticated by PSA.

Also featured is a 1933 Goudey #149 Babe Ruth card (PSA Authentic) from Ruth’s own personal collection.
Other Ruth collectibles include: 1933 Sport Kings #2 Babe Ruth Baseball (PSA 5); two baseballs signed by Ruth and Lou Gehrig; and a 1940s Ruth-signed photo (PSA Encapsulated, Auto 9).
The auction opens May 21 and closes on June 6.
Other iconic vintage cards include: a 1909-11 T206 Sweet Caporal 350/30 Cy Young Portrait Green (PSA 8, MBA Gold Diamond); 1957 Topps #119 Bart Starr (SGC 9, MBA Gold Diamond 9.5); and the breakup of the 1959 Topps Master Set ranked #5 on the PSA Set Registry with a 9.067 GPA.
Other vintage gems include:
• 1915 Cracker Jack #30 Ty Cobb (PSA 4, MBA 4.5 Gold Diamond).
• 1909 E90-1 American Caramel Joe Jackson (MBA 2 GD Silver Diamond).
• 1911 National Circulation Grover Alexander (PSA 3 VG), the only known example of Alexander’s rookie card.
• 1909-11 T206 Sweet Caporal 350/25 Ty Cobb Portrait Red Background (PSA 6).
• 1910 E98 Ty Cobb Black Swamp Find Red (SGC 9).
• 1971 Topps #513 Nolan Ryan (PSA 9).
• 1909-11 T206 Piedmont 150/25 Ty Cobb Portrait Green Background ( SGC 5, MBA Silver Diamond).
• 1933 Goudey #160 Lou Gehrig (PSA 6, MBA Silver Diamond).
• Rare 1908-09 Rose Postcard Honus Wagner featuring the same image as Wagner’s T206 card.
Modern cards are headlined by a 2024 Eminence #TCT-GRE Triple Championship Tags (1/1) Antetokounmpo/James/Tatum card (PSA 10).
Other historic memorabilia items include: a 1907 Ty Cobb photo from Carl Horner that was used for T206 cards; 1923 Christy Mathewson-signed Spalding ONL baseball; and a 1902-1904 Christy Mathewson Type I Photo (PSA Authentic).
