Another Caitlin Clark card nets big sale; latest prices for grade-9 Michael Jordan rookies

Rookie star Caitlyn Clark hit some speed bumps upon entering the WNBA this season, but she quickly righted herself and has been on a tear.

In late August, she put up her 12th triple-double of the season, setting a new mark as she helped the Indiana Fever clinch a playoff spot. The former Iowa college star, through 37 professional games, was averaging 19.1 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds.

Clark has also become a star in the collecting arena. The latest bit of evidence: the sale of a one-of-a-kind 2024 Panini Clark card for nearly $24,000.

It’s among the highest-selling eBay items just outside our monthly Top 10 chart, which is heavy on NBA cards (see below). 

9-GRADE JORDAN ROOKIE PRICE POINT

In an eight-week stretch in summer 2024, a host of eBay auctions offered Micheal Jordan 1986-87 Fleer rookies graded PSA 9. Check out their realized prices:

• $18,600 on 39 bids

• $18,600 on 29 bids

• $18,500 on 69 bids

• $18,150 on 88 bids

• $17,900 on 54 bids

In years past, 9-grade Jordan Fleer rookies have sold for much higher and also lower prices. But this sampling of current sales during a short span reflects a narrow range that puts Near-Mint 9-grade Fleer Jordan cards within a $700 span.

Another Jordan card was among the rarities we found on eBay last month. 

• Air Gatorade: This rarity changed hands for $18,211 on 17 bids: a 1985-86 Star Gatorade card of Michael Jordan. It wasn’t exactly in Mint condition—it had a grade of PSA 6—but it had the appeal of a Jordan autograph, as inked on the secondary market and authenticated by PSA.
