Michael Jordan, Gilgeous-Alexander cards set records in Goldin April Auction

Basketball cards of NBA legend Michael Jordan and current sharpshooter Shai Gilgeous-Alexander are putting up big numbers during the NBA Playoffs.

You can’t hardly mention the NBA Playoffs without remembering the great Michael Jordan, who set records almost every season during his run to six NBA championships.

Though he has yet to win a championship, high-scoring Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is drawing comparisons to Jordan with his prolific playoff scoring prowess.

The NBA’s greatest player and one of its biggest current stars both put up big numbers with record card sales in the Goldin April Elite Auction.

Gilgeous-Alexander’s 2018-19 Panini National Treasures Rookie Patch Autograph Emerald #121 signed Patch Rookie Card sold for $128,100, a record for the card.

Meanwhile, Jordan’s 2004-05 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Autograph Patches signed Game-Used Patch Card sold for $111,020, also a record for the public sale of the card.

There were several record-breaking sales in the April auction. Other record-breakers include:

2024 Panini Prizm Black Finite Prizm #301 Caleb Williams Rookie (#1/1) for $122,000, a record for any Williams card.

2024 Panini Prizm Black Finite Prizm #329 Drake Maye Rookie (#1/1) for a record $109,800.

2024 Topps Chrome Update MLB Debut Patch Autograph Shota Imanaga signed game-used Patch Rookie (#1/1) card for a record $82,961.

Other notable sales included:

2024 Panini Prizm WNBA Throwback Signatures Gold Vinyl Prizm Caitlin Clark signed Rookie (#1/1) card for $244,00, the second-highest selling Clark card.

Willie Mays “The Catch” Type I Original Photo by Frank Hurley for $146,400.

Goldin’s May Elite Auction opens May 2.
