Patrick Mahomes, Brock Purdy, Lamar Jackson rookie cards on the rise during NFL playoffs
The final four quarterbacks in the 2023-24 NFL playoffs feature a high-end hobby hero (Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes II), a second-year wonder (San Francisco’s Brock Purdy), an all-around threat in his prime (Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson), and a veteran signal-caller coming into his own (Detroit’s Jared Goff).
Two of the top quarterbacks in the NFL will face off in the AFC Championship game as Mahomes and the Chiefs face Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. While Mahomes has already won two Super Bowls, Jackson is the favorite to win the 2023 NFL MVP award.
Purdy and Goff, who will square off for the NFC championship, are both among the league passing leaders. Both are in the top five in passing yards and third and fourth, respectively, in passing TDs.

PATRICK MAHOMES
A 2017 autographed Panini National Treasures Black card sold for $19,300 on 62 bids and made our monthly list of the Top 20 cards sold on eBay. So let’s skip to the next-highest Mahomes item: a 2017 signed Panini Contenders Rookie Ticket card graded BGS 9.5. This one inspired 51 bids and brought home $16,577.
BROCK PURDY
A 2022 Playoff Contenders signed Rookie Ticket “Cracked Ice” variation graded PSA 10 sold for $10,268 on 27 bids. It was one of only 22 made.
It’s in line with a number of Purdy rookie cards that sold for upwards of $10,000 in late 2023. Among them was a 2022 National Treasures signed patch card. Graded PSA 9, it reeled in $15,000 on 53 bids.
LAMAR JACKSON
As with Mahomes, Jackson made our list with a Gem-Mint one-of-a-kind 2018 Panini Prizm Black Finite card selling for $51,100 on 76 bids. So again, let’s skip to the next Lamar item: a 2018 National Treasures autographed patch card marked #27/99. Graded BGS 9.5, it sold for $18,000 on 39 bids.
JARED GOFF
This eight-year veteran had a checkered start to his career with the Rams but has become one of the NFL’s most reliable QBs since joining the Lions in 2021. “Late-blossoming” on the field also means lighter demand in the hobby (for now).
Even so, we saw a 2019 Panini Absolute Kaboom! card — a gold variation marked #6/10 — sell for $3,049 on 50 bids in January. Meanwhile, a Goff rookie card — a 2016 Donruss Optic Gold Prizm — sold for $2,950 on 32 bids. It was marked #2/10 and graded BGS 10.
