Joe Montana jersey, Pele rookie card highlight summer auction at Lelands
One of the highest graded Pele rookie cards in existence and a 1989 signed and game-worn Joe Montana jersey highlight the Summer Classic Auction at Lelands.
Pele’s 1958 Alifabolaget #635 Brazil National Team rookie card, which was issued when Pele led Brazil to the World Cup title as a 17-year-old star, is graded PSA NM+ 7.5. According to the PSA population report, it is one of 120 Pele rookie cards that have been graded with only 15 attaining a higher grade.
The Montana jersey was worn by the Hall of Fame quarterback on Dec. 11, 1989 when he threw for three touchdowns and 458 yards, the second-highest total of his career, during a comeback win against the Rams. The photo-matched jersey is signed on the number 1 on the back.
Also featured in the auction, which runs through Aug. 5, is a 1952 Topps Baseball Mickey Mantle card graded PSA 6. According to PSA, 122 examples of the card have been graded a 6, with only 121 receiving a higher grade.
