Beckett brings back heritage logo, launches new card-grading label
Five months after being purchased by Collectors and card-grading rival PSA, Beckett is returning to its heritage by launching a new brand and new label.
Collectors, PSA’s parent company, announced in December that it had purchased the longtime grading and authentication company, which was founded in 1984 by collector Dr. James Beckett.
Beckett, which has continued to operate independently after the purchase, announced Tuesday that it is returning to its roots by going back to its heritage logo. The company is retiring the fragmented “B-Star” branding and bringing back a modernized version of the iconic “B with laurels” crest.

It is also unveiling a new, refined grading label. According to Beckett, the new label provides maximum clarity and usability through a larger final grade and improved spacing, with unified subgrades and autograph details. The grading label is thicker with a clean, consistent presentation that eliminates shifting within the holder.
The new label also features the detailed subgrades that became popular with card collectors.
Beckett is also launching new technology to help protect against fraud and counterfeit cards.
Beckett’s anti-counterfeit technology includes multiple security features across the label, including advanced holographics, microprinting, UV-reactive details, and a QR code that links directly to the card’s verification page with grading details and population data.
Other improvements include enhanced security to its autograph authentication certification, including a new two-step verification process that adds an extra layer of protection against counterfeit items. By scanning the QR code, collectors are guided through a secure system that not only verifies the item’s authenticity but also verifies that the Beckett sticker on the item is real.
Beckett is also bringing all of its card grading and autograph authentication services under a single, cohesive “One Beckett” brand to eliminate customer confusion and create a seamless experience for collectors.
Beckett Media began publishing sports card price guides in 1984 and launched Beckett Grading Services in 1999. The company began grading vintage cards and launched its Beckett Collectors Club in 2001. It began encapsulating graded cards in tamper-proof holders in 2005 and launched its online submission platform in 2007.
The company was one of the hobby’s leading grading and authentication services before struggling financially and losing much of its market share over the past decade.
