Like many collectors who reconnected with the hobby during the pandemic, Kansas City Royals star Bobby Witt Jr. rediscovered his passion for card-collecting in 2020.

Witt, one of MLB’s brightest young stars, began collecting cards of NFL star quarterbacks Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes, along with compiling a high-end showcase of his own baseball cards, and submitting them to PSA for grading.

Thanks to his newfound passion for collecting, Witt, the No. 2 pick in the 2019 MLB Draft, has been named the first official brand ambassador for PSA, the hobby’s premier card-grading company.

PSA will highlight Witt’s hobby journey by featuring him on the cover of its June issue of PSA magazine and creating several unique social media campaigns around his collection, which will include giveaways of Witt-signed cards and memorabilia.

“I’m very excited and honored to join PSA as their first official brand ambassador,” Witt said in a release from PSA. “Growing up, I was always collecting cards and have great memories of going to the local card shop on weekends to see what I could snag. It’s something I really enjoy still doing today, and I’m excited to share this passion with the world in such a natural partnership with PSA as I continue to build out my personal collection.”

“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Bobby Witt Jr. into the PSA & Collectors family in an official capacity,” said Nat Turner, CEO of Collectors, the parent company of PSA. “One trend we have loved seeing within the collecting space in recent years is a rise in participation by professional athletes. This is great not only for the health of the hobby, but also in terms of helping collectors feel a genuine connection with the athletes whose cards and items they are chasing after. Bobby being an active, authentic and passionate hobbyist himself makes this a great match. We look forward to working with him moving forward, while also watching him continue to blossom as a true star in Major League Baseball.”
