Baseball has rarely seen a more formidable duo than Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, and never has a tandem been more dominant for a longer period of time than the two Yankees legends.

Ruth and Gehrig played together from 1923-34, with Gehrig entering the starting lineup at first base in 1925. From 1925-34, the duo combined to hit 771 home runs, an average of 77 per season, to lead the Yankees to three World Series titles. Ruth led the American League in home runs six times (12 total) during the stretch, while Gehrig did it twice, with each winning an AL MVP.

In their final game together on Sept. 30, 1934, Gehrig sent Ruth out of with a bang, slugging a home run and a double that helped Ruth score his final run as a Yankee. Ruth played the final season of his career with the Boston Braves of the National League in 1935, while Gehrig starred for the Yankees for four more seasons.

An official OAL baseball signed by both Ruth and Gehrig highlights the March Premier Auction at PWCC Marketplace.
