Babe, Mantle, vintage gems top REA November auction
Some of the most iconic vintage cards in the hobby topped the November Encore Auction at Robert Edward Auctions.
The auction was highlighted by a 1933 R319 Goudey #53 Babe Ruth (SGC 5), which sold for $37,200, and a 1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle (PSA POOR 1), which attracted $32,400.
The 1951 Bowman rookie cards of Mantle and Willie Mays also drew five figures, with the Mantle (PSA 5) selling for $24,000 and the Mays (PSA 6) going for $22,200.
Several modern cards also attracted high bids, including a 2000 Playoff Contenders #144 Tom Brady Rookie Ticket Autograph (BGS 8.5 with 10 autograph) for $17,400, and a 1986-1987 Fleer Michael Jordan Rookie card (PSA 9) for $16,200.
The auction attracted more than 60,000 bids across more than 3,200 lots.
“This was another outstanding event for us and a great sign for the hobby that the interest and appetite for both vintage and modern across different sports remains very strong” REA President Brian Dwyer said. “We’re excited about the results across the board as we head into our final auction of the year.”
