Mile High Card Company completes largest auction with six-figure card, complete set sales
Mile High Card Company just concluded its largest auction in company history, with vintage cards and complete sets topping six figures.
The auction featured more than 3,500 lots.
“We’ve been consistently getting world-record, top-dollar results for several years now, and that doesn’t seem to be slowing down,” MHCC President and CEO Brian Drent said.
The auction was headlined by a Pop 1 1909 E92 Croft's Candy Ty Cobb carded graded PSA 6, with none graded higher, which sold for $106,705.

Two classic football cards also sold for record prices, with a 1957 Topps #138 John Unitas (PSA 8.5) selling for $65,978 and shattering the previous record price by almost $30,000.
A 1966 Philadelphia #41 Jim Brown card (PSA 9) more than doubled its previous record with a sale of $46,869.
Among the top-selling sets were a 1955 Topps PSA-graded Near Complete Set (209/210) with 8.021 GPA that sold for $208,555; a 1968 Topps Complete Set Basic With Wax Pack, rated #2 on the PSA Set Registry with an 9.90 GPA, for $169,030; and a 1951 Bowman Near Complete Set (322/324 Minus Mantle And Mays), ranked #6 On The PSA Set Registry with a 8.167 GPA, for $150,150.
Other top card sales included: a 1904 Pittsburgh Leader Honus Wagner (SGC 7) for $44,281; 1948 Leaf #79 Jackie Robinson (MBA 6.5 Silver Diamond) for $48,822; 1911 T205 Gold Border Christy Mathewson (MBA 7 Silver Diamond) for $31,766; 1909-13 M101-2 Sporting News Supplements Ty Cobb (PSA 4) for $26,535; 1915 Cracker Jack (E145-2) #30 Ty Cobb (MBA 5.5) for $37,288; 1949 Bowman #84 Roy Campanella (PSA 9) $45,390; 1957 Topps #35 Frank Robinson (PSA 9) $39,207; 1909-11 T206 Sweet Caporal 350-460/42 Ty Cobb Portrait Red (MBA 7 Silver Diamond) $37,658; 1922 WM. Paterson #46 Ty Cobb (PSA 6) for $28,098; and a 1932 U.S. Caramel Baseball #26 Lou Gehrig (PSA 6) for $28,098.
Mile High also offered the break-up of several world-class sets, with proceeds from a 1956 Topps Master Set (#4 On The PSA Set Registry with an 8.466 GPA) topping $331,982, led by a #33 Roberto Clemente (PSA 8.5) selling for $20,442, more than double the previous world record price.
Other top set break-ups included: a 1955 Bowman Master Set (#6 On The PSA Set Registry 7.480 GPA) for $44,326; 1959 Topps Master Set (#17 On The PSA Set Registry) for $62,044; 1956 Topps Football Master Near Complete Set (#3 on PSA Set Registry) for $78,598, including a pair of record-shattering PSA 10 examples.
