<p>Baseball cards date to the 1860s with the oldest known team card being the circa 1860 Brooklyn Atlantics Baseball Card. In 1868, Peck and Snyder, a sporting goods store in New York, started producing baseball cards as an advertising tool, much like the tobacco and confectionary companies did at the turn of the 20th Century. From the American Tobacco Company came the well-known T206 Honus Wagner baseball card, which sold for $3.12 million.
