BREAKING NEWS: Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant #1/1 Logoman card sets all-time sports card record
The iconic #1/1 Logoman featuring NBA legends Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant was expected to set a hobby record for basketball cards.
Instead, it shattered the basketball record and set an all-time record for sports cards, selling for $12.9 million at Heritage Auctions.
The #1/1 autographed 2007-08 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Dual Logoman Autographs Michael Jordan & Kobe Bryant card (PSA 6) attracted 82 bids and sold for $12,932,000 in Heritage's Summer Platinum Night Sports Auction.

The card not only shattered the basketball card record of $5.2 million for a LeBron James rookie card and $5.9 million for a Steph Curry card, but it surpassed the all-time sports card record of $12.6 million for a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card.
“I think that this incredible world record price reflects two things,” says Chris Ivy, Heritage's director of sports auctions. “First, this is the finest modern basketball card in the world, and second, Heritage Auctions provides our clients with the best platform to generate world record results for your rare collectibles.”
UPDATE: Canadian investor Kevin O’Leary told CNBC on Monday that he was part of a group of three investors who collaborated to buy the card. O’Leary joined with investors Matt Allen and Paul Warshaw to form a syndicate to buy the card, O'Leary said on “Squawk Box” on CNBC. He said the three got together on a 3 a.m. Zoom call to purchase the card.
“We bought it together, yes we did,” O’Leary said on CNBC. “I’m very proud to own it.”
O’Leary said the group doesn't plan to sell the card and he doesn’t believe it will come to the market again anytime soon.
“It’s going to be a part of an index that I’m going to continue to grow along with my partners,” he said. “We look at it no different than our bitcoin holdings, our ethereum holdings, our gold holdings.”
Heritage also sold the record 1952 Topps Mantle card (SGC 9.5) in 2022.
Other highlights from the first session of the auction included:
• A 1960 Mickey Mantle game-worn and signed New York Yankees jersey for a record $5.2 million.
• A signed 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle #311 PSA EX+ 5.5 Auto 8 for $1,067,500.
