SCP Auctions has announced the ball Boston Red Sox outfielder Shane Victorino nailed for a grand slam home run in Game 6 of the 2013 American League Championship Series will be a part of its fall auction beginning Wednesday, Nov. 20 at SCPAuctions.com.

SCP Auctions estimates the ball will sell for between $50,000-$100,000.

Nick Wood, a 23-year old University of Rhode Island student and lifelong Red Sox fan from Westborough, Mass., has enlisted the help of SCP Auctions to sell the ball that propelled Boston to a 5-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers and clinch a spot in the World Series.

“As a lifelong Red Sox fan, I’m glad to be part of such a historic moment,” said Wood. “As much of a fan as I am, I’m not really a memorabilia collector. This auction will hopefully allow a collector or maybe even a museum to preserve and display the ball for years to come.”

With the Red Sox down 2-1 in the seventh inning, Boston loaded the bases on a double, a walk and an error by shortstop Jose Iglesias. Victorino slammed an 0-2 pitch from Tigers’ pitcher Jose Veras over the Green Monster.

“We were just jumping up and down and I heard this security guard screaming at us, saying, 'Ball, ball, ball!' And I looked down and it was literally rolling in between our feet. I grabbed it and after that it was just mayhem,” said Wood. "I'm just overwhelmed by it, I guess, because everywhere I go, people are asking to talk to me, but it's really cool.”

“We are honored that Nick has chosen SCP Auctions to conduct the auction of his Shane Victorino grand slam baseball,” said SCP Auctions Vice President Dan Imler. “We’re sure this will stand the test of time as one of the most iconic moments in Red Sox history and rank among the greatest postseason home runs in baseball history.”

Bidding will be open to registered bidders on Wednesday, Nov. 20 and conclude on Saturday, Dec. 7. The auction will be conducted online at SCPAuctions.com. For more information on how to participate, call (949) 831-3700.
