Jerseys steal the show for Vintage Authentics

Three football jerseys from Hall of Fame quarterbacks stole the show in the recent Vintage Authentics Internet-only auction that concluded Aug. 10. A 1968 Bart Starr game-used jersey graded GU 5 by Lou Lampson sold for $34,075, while a 1976 Joe Namath game-used jersey graded GU 9 went for $17,876 and a circa-1981-83 Terry Bradshaw game-used jersey graded GU 6 ended at $17,108.

Several other big-name football jerseys made waves in this auction, including a 2004 Tom Brady game-used jersey ($10,700); 1997 Brady game-used Michigan jersey ($6,193); mid-1980s John Elway rookie-era, game-used jersey ($4,791); 1994 Dan Marino 75th Anniversary game-used jersey ($2,521); a signed, game-used Walter Payton jersey, circa-1984-86, ($2,520); and a 2000 Peyton Manning game-used jersey ($2,316).

Other jerseys generating high bids included: a 2001 Ichiro Suzuki game-used rookie alternate jersey ($3,386); 1996 Roger Clemens game-used jersey ($2,752); 2003-04 LeBron James game-used rookie home jersey ($2,748); 2002 Albert Pujols game-used jersey ($2,099); and a 2001 Barry Bonds game-used jersey ($1,551).

Nearly hitting the $10K mark was a 1988 Mike Devereaux World Series ring and autographed card. The ring sold for $9,384.

Several other notable items included: a signed 1967 Willie Mays game-used bat, graded PSA 7 ($7,082); a Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig dual-signed baseball ($4,669); an all-time greats multi-autographed baseball with Ty Cobb and Jimmie Foxx ($3,127); a single-signed Ruth baseball ($3,125); a Walter Johnson and Clark Griffith dual-signed baseball ($2,502); and a 1930-35 Jimmie Foxx game-used bat ($2,048).
