Aaron Judge rookie card sets modern baseball card record
The 2026 MLB season hasn’t even started yet and 2025 AL MVP Aaron Judge is already starting the year off hot.
A #1/1 2013 Bowman Chrome Draft Aaron Judge Superfractor Auto card just sold at Fanatics Collect for $5.2 million, a record for modern baseball cards. The previous record was a 2009 Bowman Chrome Draft Mike Trout Superfractor Auto #1/1 that sold for $3.9 million in 2020.

The Judge card, which was sold in a private sale, is a record for a Judge card and is tied for the 10th highest-selling sports card sale of all time, according to CardLadder.
And that record could soon be surpassed as well. Fanatics Collect also has a #1/1 2025 Topps Chrome Dual MVP Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge Gold MLB Logoman Auto that has already reached seven figures in its March Premier auction. The card is estimated to approach $5.5 million.
In addition to its auctions and marketplace, Fanatics Collect also brokers private sales, which led to the highest sports card sale of the year with the Judge card.
“We’re incredibly honored to have brokered this record-breaking deal—and to be part of such a momentous moment in hobby history,” said a statement released by Fanatics Collect. “As a company we value our deep relationships with our collectors, with both their trust and our expertise allowing us to continue to help set sale records in the months and years to come.”
The top five modern baseball card sales behind Judge and Trout include: a 2024 Topps Chrome Shohei Ohtani Gold Logoman #1/1 ($3 million); 2024 Topps Chrome Paul Skenes MLB Debut Patch Auto #1/1 ($1.11 million); and the 2024 Topps Dynasty Shohei Ohtani Logoman 50-50 Auto #1/1 ($1.067 million).
