1984 Donruss Baseball complete set tops REA auction
If you are a fan of 1980s baseball stars such as Tony Gwynn, Don Mattingly, Cal Ripken Jr. or Wade Boggs, or even legends such as Nolan Ryan and Pete Rose, the 1984 Donruss set is one that should be on your radar.
REA provided a prime example in its February Auction, which was led by an impressive 1984 Donruss PSA high-grade complete set that sold for $40,590.

The auction was also highlighted a 1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle (SGC POOR 1) that sold for $36,900, a record for the card in this SGC grade.
The auction also featured a wide variety of vintage baseball classics, including a 1952 Topps #392 Hoyt Wilhelm Rookie High Number , the only example graded SGC MINT 9, that sold for $31,980, a record for the card in any grade.
“Hobby classics, in all grades, continue to generate very strong results, which was a key theme across the board in this event,” REA President Brian Dwyer said. “There was tremendous bidder interest on all types of cards and memorabilia featured within this auction, and new bidders continue to enter the hobby at a high rate, which is exciting to see.”
Other sellers included a 1984-1985 Star #195 Michael Jordan “1984 Gold Medalist” card (BGS EX-MT+ 6.5) that sold for $17,835, a record for the grade.

• 1910 E93 Standard Caramel Ty Cobb (PSA EX 5) $18,450.
• 1909-1911 T206 White Border Nap Lajoie Portrait (PSA EX-MT 6) $15,990.
• 1909-1911 T206 White Border Ray Demmitt St. Louis Variation (PSA VG 3) $14,145.
• 1909-1911 T206 White Border Tris Speaker Rookie (PSA NM 7) $12,915.
• 1948-1949 Leaf #4 Stan Musial Rookie (PSA NM 7) $12,300. • 1909-1911 T206 White Border Sherry Magie Error PSA POOR 1 $11,685.
