Wayne Gretzky 1988 Stanley Cup jersey sells for $2.8M at Goldin

With the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs under way, NHL legend Wayne Gretzky’s final Stanley Cup jersey topped the Game Used Auction at Goldin.

With the Stanley Cup Playoffs under way, there is one NHL legend whose name is always front and center when it comes to hockey championships.

Wayne Gretzky, who won four Stanley Cup championships for the Edmonton Oilers from 1984-88.

Gretzky is also a big name when it comes to sports collectibles, with his trading cards and memorabilia attracting top dollar. Gretzky’s final Edmonton Oilers game-used jersey sold for $2.8 million in the Spring Game Used Auction at Goldin.

The jersey was photo-matched to Game 4 of the 1988 Stanley Cup Final. The sale was a record for any hockey jersey sold at public auction.

Other top results included: the Feb. 16, 2024 Victor Wembanyama NBA Rising Stars game-used, photo-matched full uniform for $244,000; a 2017 Aaron Judge game-used, photo-matched New York Yankees home jersey for $150,060; and a 1955 Ted Williams game-used Louisville Slugger Bat for $98,820.

The Judge jersey was matched to five games during his rookie season, including his first multi-homer game.

Nov. 5, 1996 Dennis Rodman game-used, photo-matched, signed Chicago Bulls Home NBA 50th Anniversary Gold Logoman jersey: $62,220.

1953 Stan Musial game-used St. Louis Cardinals pants with stirrups: $47,702.
