Treasure trove of memorabilia from ‘Mr. Hockey’ Gordie Howe up for bid at Frozen Pond
Hockey memorabilia from the estate of “Mr. Hockey” Gordie Howe is coming to auction at Frozen Pond, Inc.
The online auction at Frozen Pond, which specializes in autographed hockey memorabilia, features 524 lots of some of the most unique Gordie Howe items ever made available to the public. Proceeds from the auction will benefit The Howe Foundation, the official charity of Gordie and Colleen Howe.
Among the featured lots are game-worn Houston Aeros WHA Jerseys worn by Gordie, Mark and Marty Howe in 1976-77, when players wore one home jersey for an entire season.
Other highlights include:
• A miniature Stanley Cup given to Howe by Red Wings owner Mike Ilitch in 2008 commemorating Howe’s four Stanley Cups with the Red Wings from 1950-55.
• 1971 All-Star Game presentational watch.
• A customized 1976 Texas license plate.
• A 1953 All-Star Game gold charm.
• Jubilee Medals from Queen Elizabeth, as well as plaques, certificates, trophies and awards.
• Personalized letters from Brian Mulroney, Gerald Ford and Richard Nixon.
• A baseball from Ted Williams.
• Autographs from Muhammad Ali, Arnold Palmer, Tom Landry, Ted Lindsay and Rocket Richard.
• Personal artifacts such as a cowboy hat, fishing rods, golf shoes, Playboy Mansion Cigar Box, ID passes, and original hockey card artwork.
• Items signed by Howe, including gloves, skates, sticks, jerseys, photos, pucks, cards, magazines, programs, tickets, collector plates, caps, checks, bobbleheads, and figurines.
Also featured are rare pieces from Howe’s hockey-playing children Mark and Marty, including championship rings, Avco Cups, silver trays, team-signed sticks, a Rolex watch, jewelry, game-used items, and more trophies and awards.
The auction also is supplemented with dozens of items signed by hockey legends such as Wayne Gretzky Connor McDavid, Austin Matthews, Sidney Crosby, MarkMessier, Guy Lafleur, Ken Dryden, Patrick Roy, and Bobby Hull.
