Topps Adds New Twists on Turn Back the Clock Promotion
Topps has brought back its popular Turn Back the Clock hobby shop promotion for a fourth consecutive football season, offering a set that is available via a combination of in-pack cards, weekly giveaways and special promotional packs.
This year’s TBTC set features 40 cards, an increase from the 22 cards offered in each of the three previous years. The first five cards in the set were available via special 5-cent packs that were offered when this year’s Topps Football product debuted. Seventeen of the cards will only be available with a qualifying purchase at Topps Home Team Advantage hobby shops, with one new card available each week during the NFL season. The remaining cards in the set are found within hobby packs of Topps Football.
The 40-card set features a mix of current stars and Hall of Famers.
The distribution format of this year’s product is nearly identical to the format used for the Baseball Card History promotion offered by Topps earlier this year, an idea that proved to be quite popular with collectors and dealers.
“Fusing an in-pack insert set with an in-store promotion takes this program to the next level,” said Topps brand manager Clay Luraschi. “Collectors will find great value in the set because of how extensive it is, and stores will benefit from the additional traffic since the set can only be completed with their help.”
