Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts cards highlight PWCC auction in NFL Week 1
With the 2023 NFL season kicking off this week, PWCC Marketplace is featuring the NFL GOAT and two of the top current quarterbacks in its September Premier Auction.
The auction, which features elite cards across all sports, went live Sept. 7 and runs through Sept. 21.
The auction is highlighted by a 2012 Panini Prizm Gold Tom Brady #116, numbered to #/10 and graded PSA 10. The card ranks as the top card from the inaugural release of one of Panini’s top NFL brands. The Pop 1, PSA 10 Gem is one of Brady’s top cards on the market.
Also featured are rare cards of current star QBs Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts.
With Mahomes, Mitchell Trubisky and Deshaun Watson ranked as the top three quarterbacks in the 2017 NFL Draft, collectors who pulled a QB2 exchange card from Panini's first redemption release expected to receive one of the three rookie issues.
One collector was lucky enough to draw a 2016 Select '17 XRC Tie-Dye Prizm Patrick Mahomes II Rookie card numbered to /25. The card is one of only three graded PSA 10.
Hurts’ 2020 Absolute Kaboom! Gold Rookie 10/10 #40 is also a gem, graded BGS 9.5 with none graded higher.
Other key cards in the auction include:
• A 2015 UD Black Pro Spectrum Wayne Gretzky Connor McDavid ROOKIE AUTO /3 BGS 9.5. Upper Deck featured the two Edmonton Oilers legends on the same auto card. Only one exists in the Beckett population report, with none graded higher.
• 1997 Metal Universe Precious Metal Gems PMG Red Charles Barkley /100 #1 PSA 6. The top card from the inaugural Precious Metal Gems set features Barkley in his first year with the Rockets. Only three examples have been graded higher.
• 2020 Topps Chrome Formula 1 Sapphire Edition Red Lewis Hamilton 5/5 #1 PSA 6. The top-selling F1 driver’s second-rarest issue ever produced, only three examples have earned a higher grade than this Pop 1 offering.
