Pele’s World Cup Medal Approaches $300K in Massive Sale
Julien’s Auctions announced highlighted results from the three-day Pelé: THE COLLECTION auction, which took place at Mall Galleries in London. From June 7-9, bidders from around the globe bid for a piece of memorabilia from the life and career of the most significant football player of all time, Pelé. The three-time World Cup Champion, FIFA Player of the Century and Brazilian Football icon offered his vast collection of memorabilia, awards, personal property and iconic items from his entire career for the first time ever.
The collection included more than 2,000 items featured in the three-day auction in London through Julien’s Auctions. Pelé is considered to be the most important football player of all time and has often been referred to as “Soccer’s National Treasure.” The three-time World Cup Champion, FIFA Player of the Century (1999) and Brazilian Football legend became a superstar with his performance in the 1958 World Cup. He holds the record as the youngest player to ever play in, and score in, a World Cup Final and holds the Guinness World Record for goals scored in a career with 1,283.

• 1958 World Cup Medal — $290,000
• 1962 World Cup Medal — $199,500
• Jules Rimet — $573,000
• 1970 World Cup Medal — $500,000
