Lids to sell Topps trading cards in stores across the country
In conjunction with Topps’ International Trading Card Day on Saturday, Aug. 6, hat and apparel retailer Lids will begin selling Topps cards in its stores throughout the U.S.
Collectors can find special MLB, UEFA Champions League, Star Wars and Garbage Pail Kids cards in more than 300 Lids stories. Lids plans to expand that to more than 500 stores by this fall. For a complete list of Lids stores that are carrying Topps cards, click here.
“Topps is one of the premier card companies and we’re thrilled to be partnering with them to offer our consumers the opportunity to purchase more novelty items in Lids’ stores,” Lids President Britten Maughan said. “Lids is known as the preeminent sports retailer, and we’re consistently focused on providing an exciting and diverse assortment of products and apparel. This partnership allows us to do just that while also catering to a new audience of card collectors.”
“Topps is thrilled to partner with Lids for the first International Trading Card Day,” said Wendy Freedman, director of marketing for Topps. “It’s a great way celebrate the hobby and also introduce new fans to collecting.”
Fanatics acquired Topps earlier this year. Fanatics also owns a minority stake in FanzzLids, the holding company behind Lids since 2018.
Topps will be giving away packs of cards in hobby shops across the country on International Trading Card Day on Aug. 6. For a list of participating hobby shops, click here.
