A 1952 Topps #312 Jackie Robinson High Number card graded SGC NM/MT 8 topped the September Encore Auction at Robert Edward Auctions, selling for $75,000.

It was the highest SGC-graded example of the card to hit the public auction market in more than two years.

The auction, which included almost 3,600 items and generated nearly $1.7 million in sales, was filled with record-setting deals.

“It’s very exciting when we see the top results of our events encompass a variety of different items like we did in our September Encore,” REA President Brian Dwyer said. “We had some iconic vintage items that set new records along with several modern cards, specifically current superstars, that had very strong results.”

Two more record-setters were: a 1910 E103 Williams Caramel Ty Cobb PSA VG-EX 4 that sold for $40,800; and a 1950 Bowman #46 Yogi Berra PSA MINT 9, only one of three graded PSA 9 with none higher, for $33,600.

Fresh off becoming the first 50/50 player in Major League history, Shohei Ohtani cards have been soaring in interest and prices. A 2018 Topps High Tek Autograph Shohei Ohtani Rookie Black & White #5/40 BGS PRISTINE 10 with a GEM MINT 10 signature sold for $22,800 in the REA auction.

Another modern card that did well was a 2023 Panini Prizm Football #339 C.J. Stroud Rookie Snakeskin PSA GEM MINT 10 that sold for $15,000, the highest-selling football item in the auction.
