Highly-ranked, high-grade Pete Rose card collection highlights SCP Fall Auction

The No. 2-ranked Pete Rose card collection on the PSA Set Registry is up for bid in the Fall Premier Auction at SCP Auctions.

The best collection of Pete Rose cards ever to be offered publicly highlights the 2023 Fall Premier Auction at SCP Auctions.

The second-ranked Pete Rose master set on the PSA Set Registry is up for bid in nearly 150 separate lots in the auction, which runs through Dec. 2. Collectors can also bid on all the cards in a single lot.

The set is ranked No. 2 out of more than 100 Pete Rose collections on the PSA Set Registry. The consignor also owns the No. 1-ranked set, offering collectors a rare opportunity bid on high-grade, low-pop cards of the Cincinnati Reds legend and MLB’s all-time hits leaders.

The set features Topps cards from each year of Rose's career, including his 1963 rookie, as well as a variety of other Rose cards from different brands.

The auction also features Kobe Bryant’s final career road game uniform and shoes, which were highlighted previously here.

The auction also includes other historic Kobe memorabilia, including a 2000 Lakers championship ring gifted to his father, Joe “Jellybean” Bryant; a game-worn shooting shirt photo-matched to 17 regular season and playoff games during his 2007-08 MVP season; and a game-used autographed ball from his 61-point performance at Madison Square Garden.

The auction also features rare, iconic cards of baseball and hobby legends Mickey Mantle and Honus Wagner, including three 1952 Topps Mantle cards with grades of PSA 3, PSA 4 and PSA 6; and two 1951 Bowman Mantles graded PSA 3.5 and PSA 6.

Also offered is a rare 1902-11 Sporting Life Cabinets John “Hans” Wagner card graded PSA 5, with only one graded higher, and the highest graded 1911 M116 Sporting Life Hans Wagner (Pastel Background, ‘300 Subject Back’) graded PSA 8.

Also up for bid are several items from former Duke college basketball and NBA star Christian Laettner, including: his 1991 and 1992 NCAA championship rings; a game-worn Dream Team Olympic uniform; and his Dream Team Basketball Hall of Fame ring.

Other key game-worn memorabilia includes: the shoes LeBron James wore during his 2000 high school state championship game; a game-worn Michael Jordan rookie jersey; and the cleats Bobby Thomson wore during his famous “Shot Heard Round the World” home run.

More than 100 original Type 1 photos include: a 1927 Lou Gehrig portrait; a 1928 Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Ty Cobb and Tris Speaker photo; and a 1920 Ruth photo from his first season with the Yankees.

Other auction highlights include:

• A 1984-85 Michael Jordan rookie Chicago Bulls game-worn home jersey.

• 1984-85 Star Basketball #101 Michael Jordan XRC rookie card (PSA 8).

• 1931 Babe Ruth (NYY at CHI) career home run No. 602 baseball signed by Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Tony Lazzeri.

• 1960 Brooks Robinson signed (twice) Baltimore Orioles game-worn road jersey.

• 1960 Dick Groat National League Batting Champion Silver Award Bat (he also won the NL MVP and World Series that season).

• 2022 LeBron James Lakers game-worn home jersey.

• 1990 Michael Jordan NBA All-Star Weekend Air Jordan V Shoes worn in 3-point Shootout.

• 2016 Novak Djokovic French Open game-used racquet.

• 1926-29 Babe Ruth autographed Exhibit postcard.
