eBay announced Monday a new trading card submission service for its eBay vault.

Collectors, investors and dealers can now submit graded cards valued at more than $250 directly to eBay’s state-of-the-art vault and digital marketplace. The new service expands eligibility beyond cards directly purchased on the eBay marketplace and also covers graded, autograph, relic and patch cards.

The new submission service will allow collectors to send an individual card or entire collection to the eBay vault for specialized long-term storage, third-party authentication and streamlined transactions. The new service builds upon eBay’s growing suite of collecting tools, including Price Guide, eBay Collection, Image Scan and Authenticity Guarantee.

The eBay vault is a 31,000-square-foot storage facility that currently houses some of the most rare and coveted trading cards in the hobby, including a 1952 Bowman Mickey Mantle PSA 10 and a Magic: The Gathering 1993 Black Lotus BGS 9.5. The vault features 24/7 surveillance, biometric authentication systems, intrusion detection systems as well as temperature and humidity controls to help maintain condition. All employees who work in the eBay vault undergo C-Suite-level background checks and are experts in working with high-value collectibles.

Collectors can send cards via mail, or drop off in-person. They can also input submission details using the eBay app, a web-based form or via spreadsheet.

Cards from multiple categories (sports cards, collectible card games or non-sports cards) can be shipped in one submission. There are no submission fees in 2023.

eBay is participating in several events this summer to engage with collectors and hobbyists.

It is hosting its second Collectors Camp in Seattle July 10-11 around MLB All-Star week. The camp features a series of intense training activities to help card collectors build world-class collections using eBay’s collecting tools and services.

Collectors will also be able to bring their vault-eligible cards to eBay’s booth (#761) at the National Sports Collectors Convention July 26-30 in Rosemont, Ill.
