The 1992 U.S. Olympic Dream Team was the greatest basketball team ever assembled, featuring such NBA legends as Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.
Memorabilia from the historic team now highlights one of the most impressive sports collections to ever hit the market. The exclusive set of game-worn and autographed jerseys and shoes from the collection of Dream Team star Karl Malone is up for bid at Goldin Co., which has given it an estimated value of $10 million.
The auction, which runs through May 24, includes items from Jordan, Bird and Johnson, as well as David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, Karl Malone, Charles Barkley, John Stockton, Scottie Pippen, Christian Laettner, Clyde Drexler and Chris Mullin.
All 12 pairs of shoes and jerseys feature the respective player's signature(s) and come with Letters of Authenticity from both Malone and JSA.
The collection is featured in the new Netflix documentary “King of Collectibles: the Goldin Touch” starring Goldin founder Ken Goldin.
"Working with Karl Malone and bringing this extraordinary Dream Team Collection to auction has been a major highlight of my career in collectibles," Goldin recalled. "And then knowing that Netflix viewers would get to see behind the scenes of the deal made it an even more thrilling experience for our auction company and the broader Goldin community."
The Dream Team swept through the 1992 Olympics, winning its seven games by an average of 44 points per game to capture the gold medal. The 12 players on the team combined for 23 NBA championships, 15 MVP Awards and 117 All-Star appearances.
