Of the 2,650 #311 1952 Mantle cards slabbed by the hobby’s four major card graders, few have been graded higher than an 8. Three PSA 10 examples are known to exist and a SGC 9.5 version set the all-time sports card record when it sold for $12.6 million at Heritage in August. SCP estimates the PSA 8 Mantle will top $1.5 million.
SCP’s latest auction also includes dozens of other high-end vintage cards, including: a rare 1970 Topps Pete Rose (PSA 10); a 1963 Topps Mantle (SGC 9); a 1952 Topps Mantle (CSG 4.5); a rare signed 1957 Topps Bill Russell rookie (PSA EX 5 with a Mint 9 autograph); and a 1909-11 T206 Piedmont Ty Cobb Bat on Shoulder (PSA 7).
