Cracker Jack Joe Jackson, Honus Wagner cards top REA October Auction

The 1914 & 1915 Cracker Jack sets are among the most iconic collections in the hobby. Cracker Jack cards of two baseball legends topped the October Auction at REA.

Two 1914 and 1915 Cracker Jack cards topped the October Auction at REA, which generated more than $2 million in sales.

Among the top sellers were a 1915 E145 Cracker Jack #103 Joe Jackson card (BGS VG-EX+ 4.5) that sold for $73,800, a record for the card in that grade, and a 1914 E145 Cracker Jack #68 Honus Wagner (SGC VG 3) that sold for $29,520.

Other top sales included high-grade rookie cards of two iconic Hall of Famers—a 1968 Topps #177 Nolan Ryan Rookie (PSA 9) that sold for $73,800 and a 1970-71 Topps Basketball #123 Pete Maravich Rookie (PSA 9) that finished at $29,520.

Two other vintage gems had impressive sales: a 1921 E121 American Caramel (series of 80) Babe Ruth (PSA VG+ 3.5) that sold for $43,050, and a high-grade 1956 Topps #5 Ted Williams White Back (PSA 9) that sold for $36,900.

“With almost 100,000 bids in this event, it’s a true testament to not only the great material but the strong appetite and engagement among collectors,” said REA President Brian Dwyer. “We’re very excited to see this carry over to our Fall Catalog Auction next month where we’ll have some incredible items available.”

Other notable sales included:

• 1959 Topps #380 Hank Aaron (SGC 9, MBA Gold Diamond) $41,820, a record for the grade.

• 1914 E145 Cracker Jack #30 Ty Cobb (SGC Authentic) $17,835.

• 1960 Topps #343 Sandy Koufax (PSA 9) $17,835.

• 1965 Topps #160 Roberto Clemente (PSA 9) $15,990.

• 1961 Topps #415 Hank Aaron (PSA 9) $15,375.

• 1969 Topps #533 Nolan Ryan (PSA 9) $14,760.

• 1986-1987 Fleer Basketball #57 Michael Jordan Rookie (PSA 8.5) $12,300.

• 1933 R319 Goudey #127 Mel Ott (PSA 8) $11,070.

REA’s final event of the year will be its Fall Catalog Auction Nov. 21-Dec. 7.
