Topps Pledges $100 for Every Strikeout by Clayton Kershaw in 2014
Topps is stepping up to the mound to support Kershaw’s Challenge. Topps announced it will donate $100 for every batter Clayton Kershaw strikes out during the 2014 baseball season as an official sponsor of Kershaw’s Challenge. Founded by Clayton and his wife, Ellen, Kershaw’s Challenge is a non-profit organization dedicated to giving back to children in need in Los Angeles, Dallas and Zambia. Its mission also is to inspire individuals to find ways to use their talents and passions to make a difference and help others.
The pledge is part of a much bigger partnership Topps has secured with the Dodgers ace. The 2011 and 2013 National League Cy Young award winner will sign his name, exclusively, on thousands of Topps baseball cards. Clayton also will appear on the cover of the June 2014 Topps Baseball Series 2 release, one of Topps’ biggest releases of the year.
“Topps is an iconic American brand that has brought joy to baseball fans for generations,” Clayton said. “Ellen and I are so pleased that we have a partnership that helps support Kershaw’s Challenge and delivers exciting product to the fans.”
“We are thrilled to be able to partner with Clayton Kershaw. We continue to collaborate with the premier players in our goal to getting fans closer to the game,” said Clay Luraschi, VP Product Development at Topps. “We are equally excited to support Kershaw’s Challenge throughout the 2014 season.”
