SportsCards Plus has changed its name to SCP Auctions. Since the company’s inception 26 years ago, SCP Auctions has emerged as a leader in the sports memorabilia business, a status only enhanced by the partnership with Sotheby’s that has yielded to enormous live auctions in New York City that have grabbed national headlines and media exposure.

“We have been calling ourselves ‘SCP’ for the past few years,” said David Kohler, president and CEO of SCP Auctions. “As we have grown as a memorabilia company, our industry has come to know us as ‘SCP. ‘This makes the name change official as we continue to grow.”

Along with the name change, SCP Auctions has a new Web address at www.scpauctions.com. Information about SCP Auctions’ upcoming events, as well as news from past sales is available online.

SCP Auctions’ last sale of sports memorabilia and cards in June in conjunction with Sotheby’s spanned the history of baseball, basketball, football, boxing and tennis, brought a total of $5,527,200, with nine lots selling for more than $100,000. The highlight of the sale was the contract selling Babe Ruth from the Red Sox to the Yankees, which sold for $996,000.

“We were thrilled by the overwhelming success of our last auction,” Kohler said. “From the Ruth contract to the plethora of items from the Arthur Ashe estate, the sale had something for even the most discerning sports collector.”

SCP Auctions will be accepting consignments of memorabilia and cards from all sports for its upcoming Dec. 10 auction to be held live in New York City at Sotheby’s.
