Robinson Collection, No. 1 Registry Sets and Impressive Hockey Collection Help Make Up Largest Heritage Auctions Sale to Date

More than 5,000 lots of assorted sports memorabilia will combine at Heritage, for the single largest auction in Sports Collectibles History, led by the Brooks Robinson Collection, the Andy Leff Hockey Collection and a huge assortment of cards, game-used uniforms and equipment, tickets, championship rings and assorted memorabilia. The sale is live now at www.ha.com and will end Nov. 5-7.

“The sheer scope of this auction should be enough to impress any collector,” said Chris Ivy, “because there’s something to be had in these catalogs for every level and every niche of the hobby.”

The auction is divided into three closing nights, Nov. 5-7, 2015, each terminating in extended bidding format following a 10 p.m. Central deadline for initial bidding.

Thursday, Nov. 5 will conclude the Trading Cards portion of the auction, with more than 2,500 lots drawing from the full breadth of vintage, format and condition to be found. Almost 200 N172 Old Judge cards represent a cornucopia for the 19th century collector, while no fewer than 15 Mickey Mantle rookies celebrate the greatest star of the bubble gum era. More than 50 PSA Registry sets appear, with 20 ranked No. 1, including the historic 1958 Topps Baseball Master set.

Single card offerings are heavy with rookies and the iconic Ty Cobb, and a near set and singles from the famous “Endicott, NY find” will fatten up collector portfolios of T206 Sovereigns.

Session Two, closing on Friday, Nov. 6, will conclude the Memorabilia portion of the auction, anchored by the Brooks Robinson Collection, one of the most significant single-player offerings of the past 20 years. With characteristic altruism, the Hall of Fame third baseman is parting with his World Series Championship rings, his 1964 American League All-Star Award and his massive assembly of Gold Glove Awards, all being sold to benefit his philanthropic endeavors.

The Andy Leff Hockey Collection, one of the most significant personal assemblies of hockey memorabilia ever assembled, will enjoy its first of several appearances at Heritage in this event, supplying advanced collectors with a dazzling array of game-used uniforms and gear from the biggest names in hockey, as well as the rings and trophies that punctuated their most glorious moments.

The balance of the Memorabilia section features an expansive vista of autographs, game-used articles, rings, awards and general ephemera from the four major team sports and beyond.
