Following its highly successful January 2013 Premium catalog auction, Colorado-based Mile High Card Co. is pleased to announce its much-anticipated Spring 2013 event, featuring more than 1,400 lots of tremendous material.
The auction is live for bidding and activity has been brisk. MHCC founder and CEO Brian Drent commented, “I’m not surprised to see this level of early bidding activity, as the quality of material being presented is truly remarkable, especially with regard to the PSA set registry.”
This auction centers around a very impressive conglomeration of PSA-graded complete sets straight from the highest levels of the Set Registry, highlighted by a jaw-dropping 1966 Topps baseball complete set that ranks No. 1 on the list with an unheard-of GPA of 9.25!
Add to that a scintillating 1963 Topps master set that currently checks in as No. 4 on the registry as well as a magnificent 1959 Topps complete set that holds rank at No. 9 on the registry and you begin to get a feel for the quality of offerings in this sale.
Not to be overshadowed by roundballers, an electrifying assortment of football cards are offered as well, not the least of which is a 1952 Bowman Small complete set that is ranked No. 2 on the registry. This amazing set is accompanied by an equally spectacular ’52 Bowman Large set that checks in as No. 3 on the list. Ice hockey enthusiasts need not look far for their collectibles fix either, as a head-spinning 1961 Topps set that occupies the No. 1 finest spot on the registry is presented, along with a 1911 C55 set and a 1954 Topps complete set that enjoy advanced rankings.
Taking center stage with regard to extremely important single cards is an awe-inspiring 1888 N403 Yum Yum Tobacco Cap Anson card graded SGC 40 VG, along with a 1912 Colgan’s Chips Joe Jackson graded SGC 20, an 1887 N172 Old Judge John Irwin “Washington” card graded an astounding MINT 9 by PSA, and a magnificent 1919-21 W514 No. 15 Joe Jackson Hand Cut keepsake also graded PSA 9 MINT.
And for those hearty souls who have endeavored to tackle “the Monster,” a T206 Sherry Magie (Magee) specimen is offered, in PSA 2 GOOD condition. Also proudly offered is a majestic 1952 Bowman #1 Yogi Berra in a PSA 9 MINT holder, a very tough 1914 Cracker Jack No. 93 Del Pratt graded PSA 4 VG/EX and a 1909 T205 Gold Border Tris Speaker in PSA 8 NM/MT condition. Memorabilia collectors will also have plenty to drool over, as single-signed baseballs of Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, and Cy Young are offered, along with a Lou Gehrig autographed ball that features other Hall of Fame autographs but can be displayed as a single. Plenty of vintage photographs, game-used jerseys and a 1957 Cleveland Browns team-signed football featuring a rookie-year Jim Brown are also available.
As is the case with all MHCC auction events, there is literally something for everyone in this expansive sale, for the ultra high-grade aficionado to the collector-grade hobbyist, from the aforementioned pasteboard highlights, through a solid showing of game-used material to a strong representation of non-sport card issues.
