From Mantle to Charizard, Memory Lane auction features valuable unopened boxes and packs of sports, gaming cards
Imagine finding a 60-year-old cello pack of baseball cards with a Mickey Mantle card on top.
Memory Lane Inc. has a 1960 Topps Baseball cello pack with the 1960 Mantle card on top in its Sets and Set Breaks Auction. Graded PSA 9, the pack may also feature such Hall of Famers as Hank Aaron, Gil Hodges, Richie Ashburn, Willie McCovey, Roberto Clemente and Sandy Koufax. The pack has a current bid of $15,294.
The auction, which closes Dec. 4, also includes numerous other unopened wax packs and boxes, including a 1972 Topps Baseball Full Wax Box that could include such Hall of Famers as Steve Carlton, Johnny Bench, Reggie Jackson and Ted Williams.
A 36-pack unopened box of 1979-80 Topps Hockey could include an ultra-valuable Wayne Gretzky rookie card. It has a current bid of $17,500.
The auction also has numerous boxes and sets of Pokemon and other popular gaming cards, including:
• A 1999 Pokémon Game Base Set Factory-Sealed 1st Edition Booster box issued by Wizards of the Coast.
• A complete set of 1999 Pokémon Cards “Shadowless & Unlimited” with three PSA 9 MINT cards, including Charizard, Blastoise & Venusaur all Shadowless, plus 16 “Extras”; thre cards are graded PSA 9 MINT in this complete set.
• Yu-Gi-Oh! Dark Crisis first-edition unopened Booster Box; originally released in December 2003, it includes many "rares" as well as 67 common cards.
