As one of only a few known to exist, Lou Gehrig's cap featured in Hunt Auctions' FanFest live event is in the iconic Yankees navy blue and white NY logo, has 7 1/8 and L.Gehrig stitched in the band. The original A.G. Spalding Brothers manufacturing label is also intact and features the short-lived hard composite bill found in hats of the 1920s and early '30s era.

Those are are just some of the details that helped the iconic cap land at $74,750, including the 15 percent buyer's premium in the 791-lot sale.

In a fun bit of auction company business, the Gehrig cap was bought by SCP Auctions for a private collector.

Another Yankees gem, a rare Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig autographed photo, sold for $48,300. The photo originates from the players’ barnstorming days, circa 1927-28. Both Ruth and Gehrig signatures are in bold black pen and rated a perfect 10 out of 10.
