Michael Jordan rookie card from Steve Aoki Collection tops Goldin auction
Steve Aoki is not only one of the music industry’s premier DJs and record producers, he’s also an avid sports card collector.
Aoki, who owns a card shop in LA and a vault where he stores valuable Pokemon cards, has an impressive collection of sports cards, including a PSA 10 version of a Michael Jordan rookie card being auctioned by Goldin.
The 1986-87 Fleer #57 has a current bid of $180,000 and is expected to sell for much more in an auction that ends Dec. 18.
The latest Goldin auction features numerous high-end vintage and modern cards from such sports legends as Jordan, LeBron James, Tom Brady and Mickey Mantle as well as a 22-item collection of rare Cal Ripkin Jr. memorabilia.
The auction also features several complete sets of vintage cards from 1933 to 1971, including sets of 1933 Goudey, 1951 Bowman and 1952 Topps.
Among the key items in the auction are:
• A 2003-04 UD Ultimate Collection "Ultimate Rookie Autographed" #127 LeBron James Signed Rookie Card (#226/250) – BGS GEM MINT 9.5/BGS 10
• A 1933 Goudey Complete Set (239), including PSA-graded examples featuring Babe Ruth (4 different cards) and Lou Gehrig (2 different)
• A 1951 Bowman Baseball Complete Set (324), featuring SGC-graded Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays rookie cards.
• A 1952 Topps Baseball Complete Set (407), including PSA-graded Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays and Jackie Robinson cards.
• A Cal Ripken Jr. Baltimore Orioles Game Used Black Alternate Jersey with a Jackie Robinson Patch (Ripken LOA).
• A 1991-97 Cal Ripken Game Used Louisville Slugger P72 Model Bat (Ripken LOA & PSA/DNA GU 10)
