GBSCC Show to Host 25-Year Reunion of Boston Red Sox
With the fall season hanging in the air, the Fall Classic is ready to get underway. And with the Fall Classic comes World Series memories. World Series milestone memories, from say 25 years ago, are all the rage right now. What better backdrop for the Greater Boston Sports Collectors Club’s Sports Memorabilia Show taking place Nov. 4-6 at the Shriner’s Auditorium in Willmington, Mass.?
The 26th anniversary of the show will host a special signing surrounding the 25th anniversary of the 1986 World Series between the Boston Red Sox and New York Mets by bringing together 21 members of the Red Sox. Those scheduled to appear include Wade Boggs, Jim Rice, Dwight Evans, Tony Armas, Bill Buckner, Oil Can Boyd, Mike Greenwell, Marty Barrett, Bruce Hurst, Spike Owen and Rich Gedman, among others.
Other autograph guests on the docket include Cal Ripken Jr., Vida Blue, Orlando Cepeda, Tyler Seguin, Tim Thomas, Claude Julian, Gino Capellett and Mickey Ward.
“It is considered the premier, can’t-miss, collecting event in the New England area by both collectors and dealers,” said Jim Gebo, one of the directors of the Greater Boston Sports Collectors Club. “This is the show that local collectors bring their ‘want-lists’ and hobby stash to. The dealers have commented that this show attracts some of the most avid and knowledgeable collectors in the hobby to the longest running three-day show in New England.”
The show will take place on Friday from Noon-7 p.m., Saturday from 9-5 p.m. and Sunday from 10-4 p.m. Daily admission is $7, and for those over 62 and under 12, admission is free.
Topps and Sports Images will be bringing their trading card Pack Attack to this year’s convention on Saturday and Sunday, starting at 1 p.m. both days. Participants will have to buy designated boxes of Topps products from Topps authorized dealers at the show. Prizes and products being used in the Pack Attack events will be announced during the show.
As in years past, the GBSCC Show will have on-site grading and authentication, as well.
More than 200 dealers will be setting up at the show and numerous door prizes will be awarded, including six $200 shopping sprees. For more information on the event, visit www.gbscc.com or call (978) 229-4100.
The GBSCC is a non-profit organization with more than 300 members, and the show’s generated revenue is used to support the activities of the club’s monthly meetings with guest speakers and a monthly newsletter. Last year’s convention had an attendance of approximately 6,000 people.
