Rare Babe Ruth autograph, bat knob from card break goes to auction

A few minutes into 2020, Houdini Blowout Cards did a card break and pulled a Babe Ruth Bat Knob and Cut Signature Book Card from the 2019 Topps Transcendent Collection. Now that New Year’s Eve prize is going up for auction.

Lelands announced the book card will be a part of its Spring 2020 Classic Auction that closes June 19. It opens May 17.

“This remarkable 1 of 1 Auto Bat Knob Book Card is a bound two-card booklet. Upon opening, on the left side is a color illustration of Babe Ruth adjacent to his bat knob, and on the right is a beautiful cut autograph signed by the great Bambino himself,” Lelands said. “Keep in mind that Ruth knob cards alone have sold for well into five figures, so this item should see much higher bids than a stand-alone knob.”

During the card break, the host asked, “Is it a hundred thousand?” Time will tell.
