Details for Topps Baseball Series 2 Trading Cards Announced
Topps Series 1 Baseball hasn't arrived on the scene yet, but details are already announced for Topps Baseball Series 2, scheduled to ship the week of June 14.
Per the norm, Series 2 will pick up where Series 1 left off, showcasing the game's stars and rising rookies. There will be one autograph or relic card per hobby box. The set will consist of 330 base cards, including 30 rookies and five Record Breakers from 2011. There will be parallels of each base card and the four printing plates used to create each card will also be offered as 1-of-1s. There will also be the Gold Silk Collection, consisting of framed mini silk cards printed on special gold silk (numbered to 50).
Per the 2012 mantra of "gold" from Topps in 2012, this set will feature golden relic cards. Gold Future Coin cards (15 subjects) will feature young stars with an embedded simulated gold coin featuring their likeness. Solid Gold Futures will be a card made of a solid piece of real gold (1-of-1). Team Ring cards will feature all 30 teams represented by their greatest superstar and a specially-designed simulated gold ring embedded in the card. Gold World Series Champion Pin Cards will feature cards picturing a World Series player with a
specially created pin embedded.
Inserts in the set will include stars depicted in the style of the 1987 Topps Minis, Golden Moments cards, die-cuts and Mound Dominance celebrating the greatest pitching performances of all time. Gold standard will honor those who have hit milestone numbers in baseball, and Career Day will celebrate the greatest single-game per4formances in MLB history. there will also be autographs and relic cards featured in these inserts, from today's stars to those of the past, such as Sandy Koufax and Mickey Mantle.
