2020 Topps Opening Day Baseball

The season opener for Major League Baseball will be roughly two weeks away when the 2020 Topps Opening Day baseball cards are released March 11 with more exclusive content than ever.

The addition of Ballpark Profile Autographed cards, Major League Mementos Relics cards and Mascot Patch Relics cards to the 200-card base set of the game’s superstars, budding young stars and a new crop of rookies will be a great way to kick off the new season.

The Base Parallels of Opening Day Editions are limited to 2,020 with Opening Day 1 of 1 Edition and Printing Plates each numbered 1 of 1.

Among the insert cards in each pack are these new titles: Spring has Sprung (spring training imagery), Walk this Way (players celebrating walk-off victories), The Lighter Side of Baseball (funny on-field moments; a limited print), 2020 Topps Sticker Collection Preview (sticker inserts to preview upcoming collection). Also included in inserts are Team Traditions and Celebrations, Mascots, Opening Day (imagery from 2019 opening day), Dugout Peeks (limited print) and Base Card Image Variations (limited).

The hobby configuration is seven cards per pack, 36 packs per box and 20 boxes per case.

2020 Donruss Baseball

From Panini America comes its prized MLBPA set featuring a mixture of old and new with a release date of March 4.

Look for three autographs or memorabilia per box, including Signature Series, Retro 1986 Signatures, Majestic Materials, New San Diego Chicken autographs and memorabilia, Rated Prospect autos and mem, and a few surprises.

Search for the following new parallels this year that feature emojis: Baby Shark, One Hundred, On fire, Presidential Collection, Look at This and Number 1.

Find new autograph sets in this year’s Donruss, like Sky High and Classics.

One of the most sought-after cards in the program are Whammy! Cards, showcasing player caricatures.

The hobby configuration is eight cards per pack, 24 packs per box and 16 boxes per case with a box break of three autos or mem, seven parallels, four Independence Day Parallels and five inserts.

2019 Panini Limited Football

The NFL has transitioned into the offseason and with it comes the 2019 Panini Limited football cards with each box containing two autographs and one memorabilia card, and one Rookie Patch Autograph or Rookie Patch Autographs Variations. On-card autographs can also be found on Ring of Honor cards, showcasing some of the all-time franchise greats.

Look for Draft Day Signature Booklets, which contain a piece from the actual jersey held on stage at the 2019 NFL Draft. Also search for booklet sets entitled Partnership Duals and Quad Signature. All three book sets include a 1/1 parallel.

The 100-card base set is expanded with a run of Spotlight parallels, including Silver (#/99), Gold (#/75), Ruby (#/49), Amethyst (#/15), Emerald (#/5), Sapphire (1/1) and Printing Plates (1/1).

The hobby configuration is five cards per pack, three packs per box and 14 boxes per case. The release date was scheduled for Feb. 5.

2019-20 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey

Upper Deck Series 2, much like Series 1, relies on the usual hype and the line of Young Guns rookie cards, adding 250 new cards to the overall flagship checklist. It includes 198 base cards, three checklists and 49 Young Guns (1:4). Photo Variations in the base set are a tough find at 1:1,000 packs. Inserts include Rookie Breakouts highlighting 20 stars on acetate cards.

In looking back at the reigning champions, Day with the Cup features eight players from the St. Louis Blues’ 2018-19 team with these rare cards averaging 1:1,000 packs.

The hobby configuration is eight cards per pack, 24 packs per box and 12 boxes per case. The set is to be released Feb 19.
