T206 Wagner Hits $2.1M in Goldin Auctions Sale

When the dust settled, Goldin Auctions' second sale had a total of $3.2 million in bids, led by a T206 Honus Wagner for $2.1 million. Other famous cards also did well, as did an iconic Knicks jersey.

In the end, The T206 Honus Wagner card graded PSA 5(MC) became just the second baseball card in history to break the $2 million mark when it sold for $2,105,770 (inclusive of the buyer's premium) in Goldin Auctions' latest sale that generated more than $3.2 million in total bids.

The Wagner in Goldin Auctions' sale trailed just the $2.8 million "Gretzky" Wagner. The card in the Goldin auction brought $1.62 million the last time it was sold. Fifteen bids were placed on the item.

But that wasn't the only big-ticket item in the sale. Alex Rodriguez' 2009 New York Yankees World Series Ring (an additional ring given to his cousin) was second on the list at $50,399. Then came a pair of familiar cards: 1933 Goudey #106 Napolean Lajoie SGC NM+ 7.5 ($42,305) and 1951 Bowman #253 Mickey Mantle SGC 92 NM/MT+ 8.5 ($38,363). A 1909-11 E90-1 Joe Jackson PSA VG-EX 4 sold for $34,962.
