Robinson Bat Approaches $160K, T206 Cobb Passes $120K at Goldin Auctions
Six lots of Kobe Bryant memorabilia – including NBA All-Star and Championship rings, high school uniforms and medals – sold for a combined $433,531 by Goldin Auctions, when the month-long auction closed early on July 20. As part of the sale, Goldin Auctions is donating $62,565 to The Bully Project, a Kobe Bryant supported charity.
In all, Goldin Auctions sold more than $2.4 million worth of memorabilia in the 1,150-lot auction. Goldin Auctions is currently accepting consignments for its next auction, scheduled for Fall, 2013. For more information visit www.goldinauctions.com.
"Collectors surely recognized that these are historically significant pieces of memorabilia that are rarely made available for a player like Kobe Bryant," said Ken Goldin, founder of Goldin Auctions. "Fresh on the heels of selling the Honus Wagner T206 card for a record auction price of $2.1 million this spring, we are certainly thrilled with the response collectors had to these items."
The six Kobe Bryant items are each accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity signed by his mother Pamela Bryant. The LOAs state that the items are all authentic and have been in her possession until being part of this auction. The donation to The Bully Project represents 50 percent of the final bid price of four of the items (* indicated below). Here's a look at the six items and the respective final sale price. All prices include the buyer's premium.
