Roberto Clemente rookie card sells for $1 million at PWCC
A Roberto Clemente rookie card sold for more than $1 million at PWCC Marketplace Thursday, just the second time a Clemente rookie has topped seven figures.
The final sale price of $1,050,000 (on 60 bids) is the second highest for a 1955 Topps Clemente card, falling just short of the $1.107 record. It was more than double the third highest price of $478,000.
Market Update: Vintage cards holding strong while modern still in decline
Only two Clemente rookie cards graded PSA 9 have hit the market since 2020, both selling for more than $1 million. Of the 4,735 copies graded by PSA, just 11 have received a PSA 9 grade. Just one copy has ever received PSA 10 Gem Mint status.
Michael Jordan cards also set records in PWCC’s Premier Auction.
The high sellers included a 2003 Exquisite Collection Number Pieces Michael Jordan Patch Auto /23 BGS 9.5 and a 2003 Exquisite Noble Nameplate Michael Jordan Patch Auto DNA 10 /25 MBA PSA 10. Each sold for $456,000, both records for those cards.
