SCP Auctions has announced it will offer two of the most significant artifacts in existence from legendary Hall of Fame slugger Jimmie Foxx. Originating from the Foxx estate, both items are being offered for the first time publicly as part of SCP's Spring Premier Auction April 8-25: Jimmie Foxx’s 1933 American League MVP Award and 1934 Tour of Japan game-worn uniform.

Foxx's heroic efforts in both 1932 and ’33 were legendary. Although his team finished third in the A.L. standings in 1933, Foxx led the league in batting average (.356), home runs (48) and runs batted in (163) to earn his first and only Triple Crown and second consecutive AL MVP award. Originating from the Foxx estate, his 1933 American League MVP award is set to be offered publicly for the first time as part of our Spring Premier Auction. The museum caliber artifact certainly ranks among the finest prewar baseball awards ever to reach the marketplace.

It was an unparalleled spectacle, and the event that helped inspire Japan to embrace the American national pastime as that country's own. The occasion was the visit by Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, and other stars from the U.S., to Japan for the purpose of demonstrating their skills in front of a new, eager audience of fans.

The 1934 exhibition tour in the "Land of the Rising Sun" would feature a collection of the best baseball talent the world has ever seen with the heralded American major leaguers playing a series of games against Japanese college all-stars. Not surprisingly the Americans won all 17 games they played. Presented here for the first time publicly is one of the most significant artifacts to surface from that historic 1934 sojourn. This is the actual full flannel uniform that then-Philadelphia Athletics star Jimmie Foxx wore throughout the Tour. Believed to be the only all original Foxx uniform in existence, it is an absolute miracle of endurance. With the exception of a missing portion of the jersey’s fabric in the rear right tail, the uniform is effectively unchanged since its Depression-era service. Originally sourced from the Foxx estate, this world class baseball treasure makes its public debut at the forefront of our Spring Premier Auction.
