Grey Flannel Auctions’ Holiday Auction, which contains almost 850 premium auction lots, is now open for collectors to peruse and bid. All major sports are represented, as well as presidential documents with an emphasis on provenance, authenticity and rarity.

Opening the sale is an all-original 1954 flannel jersey worn by Yankees icon Mickey Mantle with attribution to the 1953 World Series. Mantle first established his reputation for dominance in the ’53 Fall Classic, hitting two home runs (including a grand slam) and posting seven RBI in the six game series. This is the earliest all-original home Mantle jersey that Grey Flannel has handled, and has been graded a perfect A10 by Dave Grob of MEARS.

Also headlining the auction is a collection of Larry Gardner’s World Series Championship jewelry. The jewelry is highlighted by Gardner’s 1912 Boston Red Sox players championship watch fob, his 1916 Red Sox championship pocket watch, and his 1920 Cleveland Indians players championship pin, which is the only known example to enter the market. This rare jewelry has been sourced directly from the Gardner family.

Another jersey of interest is a Ted Williams game-used home jersey from the 1954 season in fantastic condition with perfect lineage. The consignor was an adolescent in the 1950s and developed a friendship with Williams through his grandfather, who worked one block away from Fenway Park. A few years after meeting and spending time with Williams, he was presented with this game-used jersey. This is a true one-of-a-kind piece of baseball history being offered.

The 1991 NHL All-Star Game jersey worn by “The Great One” Wayne Gretzky at Chicago Stadium when Gretzky was the captain of the Campbell Conference is sure to attract plenty of attention. Gretzky remains the leading point-scorer in NHL history, with more assists than any other player has points, and is the only NHL player to total over 200 points in one season – a feat he accomplished four times. This eye-appealing jersey has been photo-matched by Photo-Match.com and is accompanied by Hockey Hall of Fame documentation.

The auction closes Dec. 19. To view all the lots in the auction, visit www.greyflannelauctions.com.
