Perez Works Will be Offered Throughout 2014 in Legendary's Sales

Legendary Auctions’ current sale (ending Nov. 20-21) features more than 2,100 lots. However, 26 of them will be of particular interest for Hall of Fame collectors, and lovers of artwork in particular.

Beginning with the Nov. 20-21 sale, Legendary Auctions is offering 25 original art pieces from Dick Perez featured in his book The Immortals that was released in 2010 featuring Hall of Famers from baseball’s origins through the modern era. In addition, the sale will include an original Conlon Collection piece, making for 26 Perez originals available in all.

The Conlon Collection series from Perez began last year with the sale of “Cobb Sliding” painting for $24,000 during the 2012 National Convention. The current sale features a 30-by-40-inch Conlon Collection creation portraying Babe Ruth.

The collaboration between Legendary Auctions and Perez will continue throughout 2014, as well, with five more auctions of his pieces currently scheduled. (Look for a feature story on Dick Perez, his works and his arrangement with Legendary Auctions in the Dec. 13 issue of SCD.)

Among the pieces available in the current Legendary auction are: Hall of Fame (featuring the building in Cooperstown), Buck Ewing, Pud Galvin, Ty Cobb, Sam Crawford, Christy Mathewson, Tris Speaker, Cy Young, Travis Jackson, Kenesaw Landis, Ted Lyons, Rabbit Maranville, Lou Gehrig, Mel Ott, Jose Mendez, Yogi Berra, Joe DiMaggio, Pee Wee Reese, Phil Rizzuto, Hank Aaron, Ernie Banks, Bob Gibson, Sandy Koufax, Cal Ripken Jr. and Mike Schmidt.
