Most items in Clean Sweep Auctions’ current auction retail for $500 or less
In its final auction of 2017, Clean Sweep Auctions will host its unique to the industry, affordable autograph and memorabilia-only auction. Nearly all items have a retail value of $500 or less and have low minimum bids and no reserves.
Day one of the two-day auction is all about baseball autographs, beginning with a fresh run of signed 3x5 cards and GPCs, including Ty Cobb, Jimmie Foxx, Gil Hodges, Roger Maris, Mel Ott, Dazzy Vance, Ed Walsh and Willie Wells.
Autographed cards come next, including vintage Boston Red Sox signed team sets, a 1921 Exhibit Sam Rice and several scarcities.
The auction continues with a solid run of signed Perez Steele cards, with note to George H.W. Bush, Roy Campanella, Joe DiMaggio, Ted Lyons and Mickey Mantle. Yellow HOF Plaque collectors will see many scarcities, including Alston, Flick, Frisch, Hafey, Hartnett, Hooper, Manush, Puckett, Rice, Schalk and Wheat. Collectors of 8x10 photos will see several multi-signed photos and quality Mickey Mantle and Ted Williams signed images.
Other highlights include a 1939 Ted Williams signed autograph album page and some signed checks, including Mickey Cochrane, George Grantham (D’54), Frank Kellert and Everett Purdy (D’51). There is an offering of documents and letters, including Eddie Collins, Earle Combs, Hank Greenberg, Carl Mays and Al Simmons. There are a few signed team sheets, including the 1940 Senators and the 1953 Los Angeles Dodgers.
A large run of signed cuts are available, with note to Jim Bottomley, George Caster, Fred Clarke, Sam Leever, Connie Mack, a 5-inch long Mickey Mantle, Rabbit Maranville, Bill McGowan, two Kid Nichols, Brick Owens (D’49) and Ed Reulbach.
Collectors of large prints and framed displays have a lot to choose from, with many 1990s era Yankees championship team signed displays, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, and a San Francisco Giants HOFer display.
Rounding out the first day are some unusual signed cachets and a run of signed programs, many vintage, with note to a 1995 Braves team signed Sports Illustrated, Joe DiMaggio/Ted Williams signed oversize calendar, a Gil Hodges 1951 program, a Connie Mack 1942 program, and a Musial/Williams 1959 Sport Magazine.
There is also a run of single signed baseballs, including high grade HOF singles and scarce singles from Jimmy Carter, Bill Gates, Travis Jackson (HOF inscription), Dutch Leonard and Sadaharu Oh.
Day two starts with multi- and team-signed baseballs. Filling up eleven pages of the auction catalog.
There are high-grade vintage balls, including many Cincinnati Reds team balls from the 1940s through the 1970s, several championship balls, All Star balls and HOF balls.
The auction continues with basketball memorabilia, including a 1973 Kentucky Colonels signed mini ABA ball.
Boxing has several interesting Ali signed items, a few scarce Carlos Monzon signed 8x10s and some Ali paper items.
Football is included in the auction, including HOF signed 3x5s and GPCs, including two Jimmy Conzelmans, Turk Edwards, Joe Guyon, Arnie Herber, Link Lyman, Steve Owen and Emlen Tunnell. There is a large offering of signed mini-helmets, signed footballs with key HOFers, and 1968 Rams and 1982-83 Raiders team signed balls. There is a 1990 New York Giants signed framed jersey, some full size helmets and many publications, including a full New York Jets yearbook run.
Baseball memorabilia closes out the auction with a substantial run of signed and game bats, with note to a 1934 All Star Game story bat about Carl Hubbell, Berra/Larsen, Berra/Dickey, Campanella, Steinbrenner, a Yaz signed game bat and many Yankees-themed bats.
There is a huge run of tickets. These are fresh collections, with note to a wide variety of World Series tickets from the 1940s through the 1970s, including the famous 1945 World Series Billy Goat game. Also available are many scarce matched paired tickets from the Dodgers and Giants from the 1940s and 1950s. There are many desirable first-game stadium tickets from the 1960s and 1970s as well.
Last but not least, baseball publications round out the auction, including World Series programs and a fresh run of 1950s and 1960s team yearbooks.
