Ball signed by 11 HOFers sells for $7,300 in Coach

A baseball signed by 11 deceased Hall of Famers sold for $7,327 and was the top seller in the June Coach's Corner Sports and Celebrity Auction.

The item, a Spalding National League baseball, included signatures of Babe Ruth on the sweet spot, Honus Wagner, Ty Cobb, Grover Alexander, George Sisler, Larry Lajoie, Eddie Collins, Connie Mack, Walter Johnson and Cy Young. In all, 3,620 items were available for sale.

Second among the top-15 items and selling for $6,600 in this auction was a Pennant Boys League ball signed on the sweet spot by Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig.

A Topps Mickey Mantle 1952 No. 311 rookie card, graded a 2, was third-highest, going for $4,229. The rest of the top 15 included a Yankee-catcher Elston Howard signed Spalding Official AL ball that brought $2,932, a Josh Gibson signed "All Purpose" ball that changed hands for $2,796 and a Yankee Legends ball signed by Ruth, Gehrig, Tony Lazzeri and Miller Huggins that brought $2,792.

A Ruth single-signed Reach Official American League baseball sold for $2,271, a Lou Gehrig signed H&B Gehrig signature model bat brought $2,134 and a New York Yankees signed 1939-40 ball with 25 signatures, including Gehrig, went for $2,021.

A a Spalding National League ball signed by Marilyn Monroe sold for $1,943. Selling for $1,824 was a 500 Home Run Club bat and a Mel Ott signed Wilson ball.

A Satchel Paige signed Perez-Steele card sold for $1,785. A Roberto Clemente signed Spalding ball went for $1,683, a Jackie Robinson and Roy Campanella signed NL ball went for $1,654. Three items sold for the identical price of $1,448: a Paul Waner signed Little League ball, a Honus Wagner signed MacGregor ball and a Christy Mathewson unbranded ball.

Selling for nearly identical prices were two Beatles items: an 8-by-10 black-and-white photo brought $1,350 and a Beatles VI signed LP went for $1,341.
