1951 Joe DiMaggio Bat Leads Massive Steiner Sports Auction Lineup
More than 2,500 artifacts highlighted by the “Yankee Clipper” Joe DiMaggio’s bat from his final World Series season in 1951 season (starting bid $25,555), a vintage Babe Ruth signed baseball and a game-used helmet worn and signed by Giants Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor are on the auction block in Steiner Sports Memorabilia’s “Unbreakable Auction” which continues through June 17 at www.steinersports.com.
A rare Waterman Company autograph book, printed in 1932 which explained the art of autograph collecting, contains the authenticated signatures of 87 storied baseball names including Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig (two), Earl Combs, Lefty Gomez, Tony Lazzeri, Bill Dickey, Joe Sewell, Hank Greenberg, Mel Ott and Eddie Bennett (who was Babe Ruth’s bat boy and Yankee Mascot).
For football fanatics, a helmet with 31 signatures will dazzle, featuring autographs of quarterbacks from yesteryear and today including: Johnny Unitas, Otto Graham, George Blanda, Roman Gabriel, Y.A.
