Rare 1961 Topps Dice Game Willie Mays card headlines Fall Auction at Huggins & Scott
Topps enticed young card collectors in the 1960s with several Topps “test” sets, which allowed the card making company to experiment with different card sizes and styles.
It’s black-and-white 1961 Topps Dice Game set features 18 cards of stars player from the National and American Leagues. The set is so rare that only 35 cards have been graded—25 by PSA and 10 by SGC.
One of the gems of the set is the 1961 Topps Dice Game Willie Mays card, which uses the same image as Mays’ 1960 and 1969 Topps cards but is far more rare. Only four Mays cards from the set have been graded. The PSA 5, the second-highest grade, is up for bid in Huggins & Scott’s Fall Auction.
